In 2014, I embarked on my exciting journey into biology by starting a bachelor’s in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Gonbad Kavous University, Iran, followed by a master’s in environmental and industrial biotechnology at the University of Hormozgan, Iran. During this time, my research interest lay in oil-degrading bacteria, which helped me gain valuable experience in bacterial isolation, cultivation, and immobilization techniques. In March 2023, I successfully defended my thesis on the “Investigation of the potential of microorganism consortia isolated from the soil of Shiraz and Bandar Abbas refineries in the biodegradation of crude oil.” Since European countries (especially Germany as a large industrial location) are pioneers in the life sciences, I was interested in applying for a PhD position abroad. As I was working on oil-degrading bacteria, I wanted to conduct my study in an area that combines industry and science. Therefore, the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) was my best option to get a contract as a researcher in an industrial company while being enrolled in a university and writing my PhD dissertation. In the end, I achieved the position and killed two birds with one stone!
Project Title:
The effect of biofilm formation in gas infrastructures
My scientific interest:
Biofilms, microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC), oil-degrading bacteria, archaea, extremophiles As a doctoral candidate in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network ARCTECH, I have entered a new area of research and jumped from the aerobics to the anaerobic world.
I like to do in my free time:
I enjoy spending my free time watching movies (especially in English to improve my language), reading books, swimming, and cooking. I’m also a big fan of video games. I am passionate about meeting new people, making connections, and expanding my social circle. Additionally, I love acquiring new knowledge and staying updated on cutting-edge topics in biology, which motivates me to participate in scientific meetings. What inspires me most are the waves of encouragement and support I receive from my PIs, parents, and close friends, it truly keeps me going!
