I grew up in the city of joy – Kolkata, India. My interest in biology, fueled by my fascination with microorganisms, led me to pursue my undergraduate and graduate studies in Microbiology from the University of Calcutta.

Insights into UV-induced cellular aggregation and DNA exchange in Sulfolobales

My scientific interest:

Through my academic journey, I have developed an interest in the stress response of microorganisms, particularly in Archaea. My PhD project will investigate the response to UV stress in Sulfolobales and how they mitigate its effects.

I like to do in my free time:

Outside the lab, painting and crafting are my creative outlets. I enjoy different forms of art and being in nature.

The beauty and complexity of nature on the earth, even within the tiniest organisms and in the most extreme environments, fascinates me and motivates me to pursue research in this field.
