I obtained my B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Freiburg in 2022, studying the egress mechanism of a haloarchaeal virus. During the final year of his B.Sc., I worked as a lab assistant on archaeal viruses in the group of Prof. Dr. Tessa Quax in Groningen before returning to Freiburg for my master’s studies. In 2024, I completed his M.Sc. in Translational Biology with my thesis on optimizing glycoprotein production in moss in the group of Prof. Dr. Ralf Reski. In the same year, I rejoined the Quax lab as a PhD candidate.
Project Title: The Impact of Viruses on Biofilm Formation
My scientific interests:
To develop a biofilm assay for haloarchaea that allows studying the impact of viral infection on biofilm formation and integrity, as well as to test (virus-encoded) biofilm-dispersing enzymes.
I like to do in your free time:
I enjoy playing badminton and tennis with friends, as well as cooking and baking together. I also love watching good movies, especially at the cinema. What motivates me most is the opportunity to learn new things and develop skills—both in science-related topics and in my personal hobbies.
